A project manager is someone dedicated to ensureing that the project goals are carried out on time and within budget to the agreed upon specifications.

A PMP, or Project Management Professional is a certification granted by PMI, Project Management Institute. In order to sit for the exam an individual must show that they are ready to lead projects having at least three years of managing projects within the past eight years. There is also an exam which tests the knowledge of the PMI processes and the ability to apply that knowledge in real world situations.

There are generally three main types of project management, Waterfall (predictive), Agile (Iterative) and Hybrid (a combination of Waterfall & Agile).
